Product focus: Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS

For this month’s Product Focus, we take a closer look at F. Ball’s temperature tolerant, pressure sensitive vinyl adhesive, which can also be used for installing vertical PVC flooring accessories.

What is it?

Styccobond F49 Hybrid PS is a temperature tolerant, water-based, pressure sensitive adhesive for vinyl floorcoverings. Its revolutionary combination of properties made it an instant hit with flooring contractors following its launch. Since then, it has also been approved for installing vertical PVC flooring accessories, such as skirting, capping and coving, adding to its versatility.

Where is it used?

The adhesive has been specifically developed for use in areas subject to extreme temperatures and temperature fluctuations, which can lead to tenting and gapping in vinyl floorcoverings over time. This includes areas exposed to direct sunlight, such as conservatories or other heavily glazed areas where solar gain may occur.

What’s different about it?

Styccobond F49 develops the ultra-high bond strength required to hold floorcoverings firmly in place over a wide range of temperatures (as low as -20°C up to +60°C).

Excellent plasticiser resistance means the adhesive can be used for installing vertical PVC flooring accessories. Together with the instant grab it offers, this makes it an alternative to contact adhesives.

Unlike contact adhesives, Styccobond F49 only needs to be applied to one surface to achieve a good bond, and it allows accessories to be easily repositioned in the early stages of drying if initial alignment isn’t correct.

Something you might not know about this product:

The extremely strong bond formed by this adhesive also makes it resistant to wetting, allowing it to be used to install vinyl floorcoverings in areas subject to water and high humidity levels, including wet rooms.
