F. Ball Marketing Manager Richard Harris Retires

Richard Harris reflects on his career in marketing and looks forward to an active retirement.

Well-known flooring industry figure and Marketing Manager of F. Ball and Co. Ltd. for 20 years, Richard Harris retired from the company at the end of June.

Prior to joining F. Ball, Richard worked in a number of marketing and sales roles in the paints and adhesives industries, after starting his marketing career as a Marketing Assistant for a paper manufacturer.

Throughout his time promoting the performance benefits of trade products to industry professionals, Richard has benefited from a strong technical background, having obtained a degree in chemistry from the University of Bristol.

Opting for a career in marketing, rather than a more vocational option, Richard honed his marketing skills over the next 18 years, before bringing his experience and expertise to F. Ball in 1998.

Commenting on his time at the company, Richard said: “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I started at F. Ball; it’s just flown by. Looking back, though, the company has moved on an incredible amount since I first started and it’s been a fantastic opportunity to market the company and it’s products during this time. We’ve seen some great developments introduced over the years that have been a gift for a marketer to work with; as well as the investment that has been made in the manufacturing and training facilities. F. Ball’s been a great company to work for and I’ve been lucky to work with a great team of people.”

F. Ball Managing Director, Mark Hughes added: “Richard’s done a great job at F. Ball and, while we’re all sorry to see him leave the company, we wish him a long and happy retirement and offer him our gratitude for the hard work and dedication he has put into the job.”

Looking ahead, Richard aims to spend more time enjoying the outdoors, especially walking, and doing “the things you’re too busy to do when you’re working.”
