F. Ball introduces new-size recyclable bottle for improved Styccobond F41

F. Ball is stepping up efforts to tackle plastic waste by introducing a new 20 litre size recyclable bottle for the reformulated version of its popular Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier.

Like other bottles F. Ball uses for dispensing liquids, the new-sized bottles are made from 95%–98% recycled plastic and can be disposed of in the same way as other recyclables in order to be reprocessed as many as ten times.

It follows F. Ball’s replacement of its 5 litre plastic bottles for gauging liquids, primers and tackifiers with recycled alternatives – a change that will remove over 100 tonnes of virgin plastic material from the waste stream every year.

The move to recycled packaging is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing packaging waste, particularly waste plastic because of the adverse effects it has on wildlife and the wider environment. It’s part of wider initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the business, as well as its approach to managing its environmental impact, for which it has been awarded ISO 14001 certification.

Commenting on the introduction of the recycled bottles, F. Ball Managing Director Mark Hughes said: “The introduction of the new F41 bottles is a continuation of our efforts to minimise the impact of our business practices on the environment. It means that all the bottles we use for our products are now both recyclable and made from recycled materials. This is a big step in the right direction and consistent with initiatives to control what we use and what we output. This includes investing in energy saving technologies, generating power from renewable energy sources and the conservation of the natural environment surrounding our Staffordshire headquarters.”

Styccobond F41 is also available in 5 litre recyclable bottles and 15 litre rectangular buckets and has recently been reformulated to provide increased coverage capabilities, a faster drying time and increased tack. It is also significantly easier to apply as a result of reduced viscosity.
