F. Ball ‘freestylers’ paddle for pounds

A team of swimmers, dubbed the ‘F. Ball freestylers’, have swum the equivalent of 4.6 miles to raise over £1,000 in sponsorship for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

The squad of four, which included F. Ball managing director Mark Hughes, development chemist, Laura Humphries, Mark’s son Liam and family friend, Sam Dulson, swam a combined total of 300 lengths, in association with the Rotary Club of Leek.

Commenting on their efforts, Mark Hughes said: “I’m absolutely delighted by the amount we’ve raised for two very good causes, and I’d like to thank everyone who donated generously, including many F. Ball employees.

“A member of my family is affected by cystic fibrosis, and I was made aware of Crohn’s and Colitis through colleagues at work. Both conditions have one thing in common: they currently have no cure. I hope our efforts go some way to changing this.”
