FEATURING STOPGAP ISOLATOR MEMBRANE AND STYCCOBOND F47

The seemingly impossible challenge of installing a floorcovering onto a wooden floor that later has to be restored to its original condition has been overcome thanks Stopgap Isolator Membrane.

As part of a major refurbishment, the three-storey building had to accommodate pathology labs and offices for new tenants, The Doctors Laboratory Ltd – the UK’s largest independent provider of clinical laboratory diagnostics services. To ensure health and safety in these areas the existing timber floor had to be totally sealed but in accordance with terms of the lease, it also has to be fully restored in five year’s time.

The flooring contractor specified 2,500m² of Isolator membrane, which is an impervious laminated sheet that is loose-laid and can be easily taken up. An anti-bacterial vinyl floorcovering was then bonded to the membrane with Styccobond F47 pressure-sensitive flooring adhesive.

Available in 2 x 20 metre long rolls, Isolator has nodules on the underside, which allow ventilation and in turn also facilitates installation over damp surfaces, oil and paint contaminated subfloors and some existing resilient floorcoverings.
