Styccobond F3 exhibits a quality performance at RAF Museum

F. Ball’s Styccobond F3 flooring adhesive has been used to install new carpet on the walkways of the Bomber Command and Battle of Britain exhibition halls at the RAF Museum in London. Open to visitors throughout the year, the RAF Museum contains a world-class collection and display of aircraft.

Britain’s only national museum dedicated wholly to aviation, the RAF Museum is situated on the site of the original London Aerodrome in Hendon, North London. Containing over 100 aircraft, as well as aviation memorabilia, fine art and photographs detailing the history of aviation, the museum is one of London’s most popular tourist attractions.

Appearance is key at the museum, however the walkways experience constant and considerable wear and tear from the museum’s many visitors. As such, flooring contractors, Brent Carpet Company Ltd., were required to upgrade the walkways in the 27,000m² display area, as well as the reception area.

The flooring contractors applied F. Ball’s Styccobond F3 adhesive to adhere the chosen carpet floorcovering to the subfloor. F3 is a water-based rubber/resin adhesive that provides excellent wet grab and an early build up of strength. A high strength adhesive, it is designed to provide a permanent bond.

The use of F3 at the RAF Museum will help to ensure the long-term performance of the carpet floorcovering and maintain its durability and aesthetic appearance over time, reducing the risk of repair work being required in the future.

Since its original formulation, F. Ball’s F3 has become synonymous with quality. It has been on the market for over 45 years and continues to be the first choice of the professional carpet installer. What’s more, it is compatible with over 70% of the floorcoverings in the F. Ball Recommended Adhesives Guide (RAG).
