F. Ball Chairman receives prestigious BASA Max Kochmann Award

James Igoe, Chairman of F. Ball and Co. Ltd., has been awarded the prestigious Max Kochmann Award by the British Adhesives and Sealants Association (BASA). The accolade, named in memory of one of BASA’s founding members and former life president, is awarded each year to an individual or company that has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the association.

James previously held the position of BASA Chairman from 2010-2012. As Chairman, he represented the interests of the UK and Ireland adhesives and sealants industry and was responsible for setting and reviewing BASA policy, strategy and objectives with the BASA council.

BASA is one of the leading national association members of FEICA (European Adhesive and Sealant Industry). James was nominated by BASA to serve as one of the three representatives on FEICA’s European Executive Board (EEB); the governance body of FEICA which ensures an effective governance and leadership of FEICA.

Over the years, James has sat on many standards committees which have been involved in consultation with government on industry matters and regulation and was Managing Director of F. Ball and Co. Ltd. for 13 years until 2016 when he took over as Chairman of the company, following the retirement of Geoffrey Ball.

As a member of the FEICA EEB, under BASA’s Constitution, James continued to serve on the BASA council as an ex-officio council officer after his terms as BASA Chairman and Immediate Past Chairman ended.

James commented: “It is an honour to be awarded the Max Kochmann Award by BASA. I have been heavily involved with BASA for a number of years and have witnessed the wonderful work that BASA does to represent its members and promote the industry.”

James was presented with the award at the 34th BASA AGM held at Leicester Racecourse on March 17th by Will Barclay and Mark Louch, BASA Chairman.
