Stopgap F77 helps charity take to the water

F. Ball and Co. Ltd., has donated a range of high performance subfloor preparation products for the recent refurbishment of a sailing boathouse in Staffordshire. The boathouse at Rudyard Sailability, the specialist charity for people living with disability, required a complete renovation to create an attractive finish and appealing atmosphere for visitors and volunteers, ahead of the grand reopening by The Princess Royal, President of Royal Yachting Association.

To begin the new flooring installation, contractors prepared the 150m² tanked concrete floor with F. Ball’s brand new waterproof surface membrane, Stopgap F77. The single coat system is effective up to relative humidity levels as high as 98% and is suitable for a wide range of flooring installations, including projects such as Rudyard Sailability, where an underfloor heating system is present (where RH is a maximum 90%). The solvent-free, two-part epoxy resin system is pigmented metallic black to aid coverage uniformity, and has a working time of 30 minutes. Furthermore, as the product is accelerated it cures in approximately three hours.

The membrane surface was then primed with neat Stopgap P131, to promote the adhesion of Stopgap 1200 Pro, the latest smoothing underlayment in F. Ball’s high performance range. The fast setting smoothing underlayment was used to create a smooth, level surface that was free from imperfections, ready to receive a new vinyl safety floorcovering.

The minimum preparation, maximum performance smoothing underlayment is particularly suitable for use over old adhesive residues, and provides flooring contractors with a professional, cost-effective solution to preparing challenging subfloors, without requiring mechanical removal, and in many installations, without the need for priming.

Utilising the latest cement technology, Stopgap 1200 Pro has a working time of 20 minutes, a walk-on time of just 60 minutes, and is ready to receive new floorcoverings from four hours. It is also ammonia-free and protein-free making it suitable for use in biologically sensitive areas.

Richard Harris, Marketing Manager at F. Ball said: “We were delighted to help Rudyard Sailability complete its new boathouse. This is a project that deserved the absolute best finish, and we’re only too happy to have provided that.”
