Hospital kitchen undergoes a heavy duty refurbishment with F Ball

Floorcovering installations do not come any more demanding than in the main kitchens of a busy hospital. This was a challenge successfully achieved with the help of Stopgap 300 HD, a heavy-duty smoothing underlayment and Styccobond F84 adhesive.

The new floorcovering was installed at the Queen Mary Hospital, Sidcup, Kent, as part of a refurbishment scheme. The floor was mechanically cleaned and degreased before the application of Stopgap P131 primer and Stopgap 300 HD smoothing underlayment. Fast drying and self-levelling, Stopgap 300 is both heavy-duty and protein-free making it ideal for use in hospital applications.

Altro Stronghold 30 safety flooring was then installed using Styccobond F84 adhesive. This two-part, solvent-free adhesive is suitable for use in areas subject to surface water and, once cured, is also resistant to oil and grease.

With a total of some 400m² to install, contractors carried out the work in five phases so that the kitchens could continue to operate.
